With the “anti-regulation, small-government” administration bailing out the ruling class one self-inflicted bankruptcy after another and with really bad timing for the collapse of capitalism (where was it when we loved the idea in the 60s?), it’s time for some good news.
Did you hear about the massive demonstration by Alaskan women against Sarah Palin? It started with a few friends having coffee and turned into something widely considered the biggest protest rally in Alaskan history. Like so many women’s demonstrations, it was colorful, high-energy and full of very witty slogans. And it was much bigger than the orchestrated Welcome Home event for Palin that had been held earlier in the day.
Here’re three cool YouTube clips. Together, they catch you up on what came down in Anchorage Saturday, September 13th.
The first clip is a quick drive down the rally line and gives a real sense of how thrilled these people were to find each other.
The second clip is a TV news story about a talk radio idiot who tried to sabotage the event, without success.
And the last clip is a montage of the different homemade signs. Priceless.
FIRST: Driving down the line (36 second)
SECOND: News clip about right-wing talk-show jerk (4 min)
THIRD: The signs at the protest (2 min)
