Patrick Swayze, 1991’s "Sexiest Man Alive," has passed away after a couple of years of battling pancreatic cancer. He was best known for his romantic starring roles. According to one article, “’Dirty Dancing’ (1987) and ‘Ghost’ (1990) both made the American Film Institute's 2007 list of the 100 greatest love stories in U.S. movie history.” His hip dancing (he had a classical background) and the relaxed way in which he inhabited his skin knocked us out.
Swayze combined a suave butch-ness with a relaxed self-mockery. He almost failed to get the part of a drag-queen in the cult classic "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar" (1995). "’I couldn't get seen on it because everyone viewed me as terminally heterosexually masculine-macho,’ he told the AP then.”
Let me end with a clip of Swayze’s delicious dance performance with his wife Lisa Nieme at the 1994 World Music Awards.
Great Video, thanks for posting it. So sad he's gone. He gave me some really sweet dreams!
