Nyad is boring and repetitive, lacking the exciting tension of a good sports flick. Diana Nyad is portrayed as an egotistical narcissist who somehow convinces 40 people to abandon their lives for $0 in order to support her attempted swims from Cuba. So much swimming, swimming, but few glimpses of beautiful sea life. Poor Annette Bening must’ve suffered through rehearsals, while Jodie Foster plays her usual purse-lipped, muscle-shirted self. I didn’t buy their bestie connection. As for Nyad’s lesbianism, I caught some mumbled flirting at the beginning and a rainbow flag in the welcoming crowd at the end. Not recommended.
